Who Needs Emergency Lights?

The Mosaic kids are aware that God is giving us a bigger place for our new Sunday School. During our last Sunday at the Mosaic Lounge, the teachers asked the kids to sketch their ideas of what our new Sunday School would look like. We also asked them to write on a piece of paper their prayer requests for Project Mosaic.
All their drawings were interesting and amusing, but there is one sketch that still sticks with me. The one with the “EMERGENCY LIGHT”.
Tables and chairs, book shelves, shoe rack, toys, bean bag chairs, computers, television, video games, sound system, air-condition, wall decors. All of these things are common to the kids’ own interior design of the new Mosaic.
But there’s one sketch, with a prayer attached to it, that’s different from all the others. Kyle put labels to his drawing, ‘playground’, ‘aircon’, ‘tv’, and in all caps, “EMERGENCY LIGHT”. And on a piece of paper he wrote, “God, I pray that the Project Mosaic will be nice and beautiful…. and there will be emergency light just in case mag brown-out. Amen”. The kid must be afraid of the dark. But who wants to be in the dark?
Our earth was formless, empty, too dark. And God said “Let there be light!” God foreknew that His children would be afraid of the dark, so He created light. Then He gave us everything we need. He created sun, moon, stars, seas, skies, animals, plants, fishes, mountains…

Then, we have tables and chairs, book shelves, shoe rack, toys, bean bag chairs, computers, television, video games, sound systems, air-condition, wall decors…… All of these are blessings to His children.
Who needs emergency light?
God foreknew that us, His children, will still live in darkness despite of the light He created. And there’s nothing we can do if we are trapped in the dark. And so He sent Jesus, our “Emergency Light”. Thank you Father God for sending us your “Emergency Light”. The Light that will take us out from the dark, the Light that shines forever, the Light that leads us to Your kingdom.
So who needs emergency lights?! Kids, raise your hands up high!
