As for Me and My House

When my growing family of three first learned about Project Mosaic, God’s initial direction to me was to allot 80% of the earnings I will get from joining an IT programming contest between Project Mosaic and Meridian International Learning Experience, Bread of Life’s affiliated school. While 20% will be for our personal use.
The contest was organized by TopCoder, a web-based organization where leading IT companies like Google, Yahoo! and Microsoft scout for talents. A few months back, I joined the competitions there to learn and to hopefully generate funds for a target ministry project shared with me by our ministry leader. The contest was tough since I was competing with other programmers from abroad. Plus, I only do it after office hours which means during play time with my 18-month old baby who wants to participate in everything I do, even using the computer. So in order to get my entries in before the deadlines, I had to work only when every one’s asleep, or out of the house. But God made His presence felt. I won an amount equivalent to more than two years worth of our ministry project’s hosting cost! Praise God indeed!
When Project Mosaic came into full blast, (and coming back from the Prayer Mountain with my wife) I tried a different competition format (assembly). It was a bit harder than the original contests that I participated in (development) and we even had to sign non disclosure agreements to be able to join. And with the bigger pledge at stake, I found favor in God and received an amount equivalent to five times of my very first earnings! After that, four more competitions followed and each producing approximately equal or a little more than the amount I first dedicated to God. Even with my meager 20% share, God provided more than I ever hoped for! God is truly good!
But the journey continues and the struggles that are so often associated with our walk. It was very hard for me to give up the money when it arrived. We are expecting our second baby soon and our 24sqm home is getting smaller every day. Obviously moving to a new location would incur costs, and the money that I received could very well be a worthy addition. As the provider for the family, it wasn’t easy to deal with these thoughts. But before I even had time to dwell on them, there was already an answer from up above! And He used my daily devotional to give me that much needed nudge. It talks about contentment, and constantly relying on God.
As George Muller once said, “A little more prayer, a little more faith, a little more patience, and the answer is sure to come.”
As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord…
